Morning count of Tanks 1 and 2 produced:

32 Pochard, 57 Tufted Duck, 57 Mallard, 69 Teal…….and not a single one of them had a vertical white stripe =(, 4 Cormorant, 35 Coot, 4 Great-Crested Grebe, 9 Little Grebe, 2 Goosander (male & female pair),  1 Kingfisher, c110 (±20) Common Gull, c.30 (±10) Black-headed Gull,  1 Pied Wagtail, 2 Grey Wagtail, 1 Buzzard, 2 Meadow Pipit, 2 Stock Dove and 4 Grey Heron.

Due to the current works on Tank 3, Bristol Water have close access to all for the next few months. Currently the water level has been drained slightly, exposing a little mud on the banks. Best views are from the north edge of Tank 2. Please do NOT attempt to enter the site.

Birds on Tank 3:

22 Tufted Duck, 8 Shoveler, 3 Great-Crested Grebe, 2 Little Grebe, 2 Comorant, c.70 (±20) Common Gull and c.10 (±5) Black-Headed Gull.

Test Sightings Post: A quiet day on all three tanks. Only real notable counts were 3 Pacific Diver, a single Cory’s Shearwater,  250+ Teal, 12 Pochard, c.40 Teal, 100+ Tufted Duck, 9 Pied-Billed Grebe, 12 Common Gull, c.30 B-H gull,  c.620 Coot and a single Collard Pratincole.

The long staying Pallas’s Gull was joined by a 1st winter Caspian gull on the filtration beds. Other noteworthy birds were 2 Black Tern passing over the beds at 12-noon.
